Patna, April 14, 2017: Thousands of devotees took holy dip in Ganga and offered prayers on the auspicious occasion of Mesh Sankranti aka Satwani in Bihar in different ghats of the state capital on Friday. Devotees started to gather at different ghats since early morning to have holy bath in Ganga. After the bath, they offered Arghya to sun God and prayers to Ma Ganga. Devotees also thronged near by temples of the city to offer prayers to deities. On the occasion of Satwani, people of Bihar took Sattu (fried gram floor) with green mango "Chatni". Gopalganj district administration has sent two teachers to jail for creating disturbances in the evaluation centres. Further 7625 teachers across the state will lose their salary for disobeying the government order while show cause notices have been served to 8950 teachers.
In
Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) chairman Anand Kishor said teachers had also been warned of service break if they did not join the copy marking work with immediate effect.
He said all the district magistrates and district education officers were directed to complete the evaluation work of intermediate and high school examinations answer books by April 30.
He said declaring results in right time are the top priority of the BSEB. "It is very sensitive issue to play with the future of students", he said.
Meanwhile, district education office sought the help of CBSE school teachers for the copy checking work.
It's learnt that some teachers of the CBSE affiliated schools have joined the work.

Patna, April 13, 2017: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) held its 30th convocation simultaneously in all its regional and state centres on Thursday. In Patna, the convocation was organised at Vidyapati Bhavan, where 631 students have them registered for their degrees and certificates. Under the jurisdiction of Patna regional centre, 9412 students were awarded with their degrees and diploma certificates. Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) vice chancellor Professor Harishchandra Rathore and IGNOU regional director Dr Kaismuddin Haider jointly inaugurated the function. Patna, April 13, 2017: Bihar Urban Development and Housing Minister Maheshwar Hazari dedicated 11 new water supply system to the people of Patna in a function organised at North S K Puri here on Thursday. All the 11 new boring pumps have been installed by Bihar Rajya Jal Parishad (BRJP). The water pumps have been installed at Patna City Ward 54- Nehru Shishu Vidyalaya, Ward 57-Tulsi Mandi, Ward 63-Ranipur Khirki Harnath Tola, Mangal Talab, Bhuthnath Road Sector 3, Tiwari Bechar (JP Hospital), Chidren Park SK Puri, City Chowk Police Station, Gardanibagh Sector 15, Congress Ground and Shivpur Beur. Patna, April 13, 2017: Bihar Government has decided to give Neera license to those people who climb on the palm tree to tap nectar. Addressing the one day workshop-cum-training for Neera Project at Adhiveshan Bhavan here on Thursday, Industry Department principal secretary N Siddarth said license would be issued within a week of submitting the application. He said the license would be granted to any one irrespective of his castes but he should be palm, date or coconut tree climber. Stake holders of the project including Jeevika volunteers participated in the workshop. Bihar government has an ambitious plan to popularise Neera, a pre-fermented palm nectar, as a soft drink for health post liquor ban in the state. It will also provide job opportunity lakhs of Pasi community people who lost their traditional job of selling fermented palm nectar commonly known as toddy for several decades. The workshop stressed on the preservation of Neera for longer period maintaining its cold chain. It may be mentioned here that the natural drink Neera was a big hit among the visitors especially among youths in the three-day Bihar Diwas function at Gandhi Maidan recently. Jeevika and Industry Department jointly launched the product for the first time for consumers on the opening day of Bihar Diwas function.
