Fire safety mock drill at Maurya Lok Complex Posted: 19 Apr 2017 09:16 AM PDT Patna, April 19, 2017: Bihar State Disaster Management Authority (BSDMA) in association with different stake holders orgnaised a mock drill and seminar on fire safety at Maurya Lok Complex here on Wednesday. Resentment over change in polling booth location Posted: 18 Apr 2017 11:40 PM PDT Patna, April 18, 2017: Local residents of ward number 36 staged dharna under the banner of Jan Jagran Manch in protest against shifting of polling booth for forthcoming Corporation election at Lohanipur crossing on Tuesday. They said the booth has been shifted far away from locality without any reason and it would create hardship to the voters. Haryana cultural team on pan-India tour reaches Patna Posted: 18 Apr 2017 08:26 PM PDT Patna, April 18, 2017: A cultural team from Haryana called on Bihar Art, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister Shivchandra Ram and other officials of the department on Tuesday and later planted saplings in the premises of Patliputra Sports Complex here. The Minister also felicitated the members of National Integrated Forum of Artists and Activists team by presenting them mementos. The team arrived here on its way to travel 29 states with a mission to propagating the message of equality and unity among the youths. Starting its journey from Raj Bhavan (Haryana) on April 13, the team has so far covered Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh before reaching Bihar. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar joins hundreds of people to participate in historic Champaran Pad Yatra Posted: 18 Apr 2017 07:34 PM PDT Patna, April 18, 2017: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar along with Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and other cabinet colleagues undertook 7-km-long foot march (Pad Yatra) from Chandrahiya to Gandhi Uddan (Gandhi Maidan) to celebrate the centenary year Champaran Satyagrah in Motihari on Tuesday. Chandrahiya is the place from where Mahatma Gandhi launched his historic Champaran Satyagrah movement against British rule to fight for cause of indigo farmers. The function began around 7:35 am in the morning with Chief Minister's arrival at the historic place Chandrahiya. Kumar along with his cabinet colleagues participated in the all-faiths prayers and paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi by garlanding the Father of the Nation statue. Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Education Minister Ashok Choudhary, Land Reform and Revenue Minister Madan Mohan Jha also paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. Now, the 7-km Pad Yatra began from Chandrahiya as the Chief Minister flagged off the foot march and joined it along with hundreds of hundreds of local people. The Pad Yatra ended at Gandhi Uddan (Gandhi Maidan) where Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. Finally, Gandhi Bhajans marked the end of the function. Addressing a meeting at Gandhi Maidan, Kumar announced construction of auditorium and Bapu Memorial Bhavan in Motihari. "Our lone aim is development with justice. We did what we promised to the people", he said. "Today is a historic day as Satyagrah got its first victory here when British magistrate was forced to release Mahatma Gandhi on personal bond", he said. He said Government would soon launch movement to root out child marriage and dowry from the society.
