Complete Sonepur approach road work by June 11, Deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad tells Pul Nirman Nigam Posted: 23 Apr 2017 08:07 PM PDT Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav asked the Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited officials to finish the Sonepur approach road connecting to Digha bridge by June 11. The minister wanted to dedicate the road bridge connecting Patna to North Bihar to the people of the state on the birthday of his father and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad. Lalu's birth anniversary falls on June 11. He said it would be grand gift to his father Lalu Prasad as he took the initiative for the construction of this bridge and there would be no better day than the birthday of his father for inauguration of this bridge which would also become a lifeline for the people of Bihar like the Gandhi Setu at present. He told the principal secretary of the road construction department to monitor the progress and quality of the work on daily basis. BRPNL officials has assured the minister that construction work of the bridge would be completed by May 25. Earlier, the minister inspected the progress of the bridge and approach roads. He also inspected progress of Loknayak Ganga Path and Digha-AIIMS elevated road. Both the roads will be connected through a structure named as Digha Rotary. The opening of this bridge before June 15 is necessary because the pontoon bridges on river Ganga-Raghopur, Gandhi Setu and Danapur-will be removed in view of the forthcoming rainy season and rise in water level in Ganga. At this juncture, only Gandhi Setu will remain the lone bridge connecting North Bihar to Patna. Moreover, the Gandhi Setu is all set for reconstruction from June demolishing the western lane of the bridge first. Then only eastern lane of the bridge will be available for flow of traffic from both ends and it will certainly lead to heavy traffic jams on the bridge and its approach roads.
