Dr CP Thakur conferred with WHO lifetime achievement award

PATNA: Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member Dr CP Thakur received the WHO lifetime achievement award for his contributions in the treatment and cure of dreaded disease Kala-azar in the Spanish city of Toledoon Saturday.

The WorldLeish 6 Congress Organising Committee, which selected Dr Tahkaur, who is renowned physician, for this coveted World Health Organisation (WHO) award, gave away the award in its 6th world congress in Toledo.

Dr Thakur, a former union minister, also addressed the conference on Leishmaniasis and his research papers on Kala-azar.

Meanwhile, BJP state working committee member Sanjeev Kumar Mishra congratulated Dr Thakur for his feat.


He said Dr Thakur was the first Indian to receive the WHO lifetime achievement award.
